77th Kelty

Kelty Should "be prepared" to welcome a resurrected scout group.
After several years the 77th fife scout group hall is again a hive of activity.

The group folded originally due to the lack of adults willing to supervise the youngsters, but now it is back up and running with 35 youngsters in beavers and cubs and a waiting list.
Now it is hoped children will move into scouts after the summer so all three sections will be running.

Queen Scout

It is with great delight that we announce Explorer Scout Stuart Hamilton was presented with his Queen`s Scout Award on Tuesday 2nd March 2010.

The presentation was made at Rosyth Methodist Church by Graham Bennett, District President and Deputy Lord Leiutenant for Fife in front of invited guests from our group, district and region and friends and family of the awardee.

The evening started with an introduction by Group Scout Leader Stuart Fowell before Terry o'Neill District Explorer Scout Leader invited the audience to share in Stuart Hamilton`s journey by way of a short montage of photos taken throughout his time in the Explorer Scout Unit.

Then it was over to Stuart himself to make what can only be described as a fantastic presentation about what Scouts has done for him and what he hopes it will do for future Explorer Scouts (The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts in the audience!). He recalled the Sunrise Ceremony in Switzerland, sleeping in a bivouac in a very cold Meggernie, helping to conserve our beautiful countryside both in Scotland and The Lake District.

The Queen`s Scout Award is the highest award that can be achieved by a Scout and requires a significant commitment by the Scout. Stuart Hamilton has walked the West Highland Way, volunteered as a Young Leader with the 13th Fife Cub Scout section, volunteered with The National Trust carrying out numerous conservation projects, participated in international expeditions and played with Dunfermline Water Polo both as a player and youth coach.

We are all very proud of Stuart and hope he looks back on his Queen`s Scout Award journey with pride and distinction.
